Tapojarvi Oy and Outokumpu have entered into an agreement for two important contracts at the Kemi Mine. The agreements were signed on 28 April 2022 in Itäranta, Tornio. These new agreements are a continuation of the long-term cooperation between Outokumpu and Tapojärvi at the Kemi Mine for equipment installations and excavation work.

The contract agreements will enter into force on 1 May. The equipment installation agreement concerns the entire construction and maintenance of the infrastructure for the underground mine in Kemi. The excavation contract includes drifting and supporting work in preparation for production. For the time being, the agreements are valid for over three years and employ a total of approximately 80 people.

“The agreements entered into are important for continuity. The agreements also set new standards in terms of the enhancement of safety and productivity”, tells Martti Kaikkonen, COO at Tapojärvi Oy.

“We are pursuing synergies between different contracts. We are better able to take care of the safety, efficiency, and quality of all our contracts, as we are responsible for the best possible condition of the mine’s infrastructure”, summarises Tapojärvi’s Director of Mining Anssi Rytkönen.
